Early life & career shift (banker to author)

Amish Tripathi was born on 18 October 1974 in Mumbai, he was born into a culturally rich and intellectually inclined family. His grandparents were freedom fighters and Sanskrit scholars which exposed him to Indian mythology at an early age.

He completed his schooling from The Lawrence School (Lovedale) and Cathedral & John Connon School (Mumbai). He graduated from St Xavier’s college, Mumbai. After completing study and college he went to study at IIT (BHU) in Varanasi one of the most prestigious technical institutions in India. Later he pursued an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Calcutta. Where he developed his analytical and leadership skills.

Amish worked in the financial and banking sector for nearly 14 years. He held senior positions in institutions such as IDBI bank, DBS bank, and Standard Chartered bank. He was a well respected and financially stable person in his banking career. Even after being well respected and working in banking he still felt creatively unfulfilled. To complete this creativeness he started writing books on Indian mythology in his spare time. His first manuscript was The Immortals of Meluha.

He tried to publish his books from various publications but faced rejection, Amish adopted self publishing. This idea became a success as his books gained popularity. Due to his books becoming popular Amish left banking and started writing as a full time author.
